Bradford’s only cooperatively-run cafe, workspace, and community venue will reopen on 12th April, but it needs the community’s help to survive!
Who are we?
Since August 2018, a co-operative group of Bradford-based entrepreneurs and businesses have been running Bread + Roses. Transforming the former Forks Cafe and grade-two listed building, 14 North Parade, into a home for co-working, vegan and vegetarian food, and a popular community space. Guided by a commitment to building a stronger, united and more resilient community, our mission is to create a positive and supportive space for the people of Bradford to come together.
What do we offer?
Despite the challenges, the team have been working behind the scenes to make lots of improvements. Two private and fully furnished offices are currently available to rent, equipped with superfast internet and professional video conferencing facilities.
Flexible co-working and private meeting rooms as well as the print facilities and art room will be available once more from the 12th April. A new multimedia room has been made possible with funding from National Lottery’s Coronavirus Response Fund, which includes community-use film and audio equipment, studio mac, editing software, and free tutorials to help new starters make their own film or audio podcast.
We also have a 1000sqft fully-equipped commercial kitchen is also available to rent daytime and evenings 7 days per week, perfect for food delivery, catering, or batch production. Bread + Roses aims to provide facilities and resources to help to act as a launchpad for new and emerging Bradford businesses.
How can you help?
The co-operative aims to raise £10,000 via a crowdfunder, which is supported by a match-funding pledge of £5,000 from Power to Change’s Crowdmatch Fund. Bread + Roses is offering a variety of exciting new rewards, from free space hire, to all inclusive away day experience for work teams, and just a simple pay it forward for a coffee or two. To support this amazing community-focused initiative, visit www.crowdfunder.co.uk/supportbreadandrosesbd.
In particular, we are looking for larger donations from local businesses. The rewards we are offering feature all-inclusive away days for teams of up to eight people as well as opportunities to access our workspaces and resources.
There are also other ways to help! Volunteers are needed to run the cafe, workspaces, and building on a shoestring budget. If you think you’d like to get involved, check out all our current opportunities here: thebreadandroses.coop/get-involved.
We will be opening our doors on Monday the 12th of April. Anyone interested in supporting us financially, getting involved, or hiring a space can get in touch by emailing: email@example.com.
“What I love about Bread + Roses is that they are a community hub set up by creatives, for creatives, acting as a launchpad to help entrepreneurs and artists take their businesses to the next level. Volunteering is a great privilege because there have been so many people who have invested in me over the years and it’s great to be a part of an organisation giving back in such tangible ways. Especially considering the current circumstances I firmly believe that Bread + Roses is necessary now more than ever.” – Chris Cambell (Co-worker and Volunteer at Bread + Roses)
