We’re really excited to show all our wonderful customers and users what we’ve been working on over the last few months when we reopen on the 28th September 2020. In the meantime, check out these FAQ’s to find out what we’ve been up to, why we’re not reopening until September and how to keep up to date with us over the next few months.
Who are you?
We are Bread + Roses, a vegan/vegetarian cafe, coworking space and events venue based on North Parade in Bradford. We are part of the wider Bradford Co-operative Association, which aims to build a co-operative platform of opportunities, resources, skills, and services for the benefit of our members and the people of Bradford. We hope to offer the community in Bradford a space to come together and enjoy wonderful vegan and vegetarian food surrounded by people that are passionate about helping each other out and creating a better society for all.
What’s different about a co-operative?
Being part of a co-operative is a new way of doing business. Co-operatives take a more ethical and people focused approach to business, rather than putting profits and unnamed shareholders first. As a Member you own a share of the organisation, meaning you have a say in how it is run, allowing you to influence what events we hold, how the space is used, and anything else your imagination can conjure up! At Bread + Roses, we operate a sociocratic system, which is a flat structure meaning everybody has equal accountability and input into the organisation. Where have you been over lockdown?
Like many other businesses, we had to furlough most of our staff over these last couple of months. This is why you haven’t seen as many posts from us as you may have expected. However, some staff have now returned to work and the remainder will return prior to the cafe opening in September, so you’ll be seeing plenty more from us again soon!
Why haven’t you reopened yet?
At Bread + Roses, the health and safety of our employees and customers will always come first. We want to make sure that when we do reopen, we do so in a way that is safe and enjoyable for everybody. Additionally, we have used this time to rethink our business model, and the future of Bread + Roses. We are currently recruiting a new Business Manager position following a company restructure during lockdown, and this is a key role that will inform how we reopen further.
As of the 4th August, we are opening our coworking space for existing coworkers on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between the hours of 9am-5pm. We have made some changes to the space to ensure that all coworkers can work safely whilst following the guidelines. If you want to come in and work outside of the days we are open, please contact email@example.com to get booked in. We are monitoring the situation closely and if it is safe to do so, we are hoping to open the coworking space 5 days a week at the beginning of September.
We believe that our customers deserve the very best experience when we reopen the cafe on the 28th September, and we don’t want to rush into reopening if we aren’t able to deliver the same standard as we did before lockdown. We are really excited to welcome you all back, and can’t wait until we can open our doors fully again!
Is there any way we can support you over the coming months?
The support of our friends, users and customers means the world to us. We would be really grateful if you could keep up to date with our journey via our social media channels and website (including this new blog section which will include loads of updates), and share these posts to spread the word! You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, so give us a follow to see what we’re up to. We will be reopening the cafe on the 28th September, and we would be thrilled to see as many of you there as possible once we reopen – socially distanced of course!
What do you have planned for the future?
We have used the time off over the last few months to rethink our future plans, to help us adapt to the ever changing world we will soon be entering. We have some really exciting stuff coming up, such as online events, competitions and obviously a big reopening celebration. We’ll be releasing more information on our social media over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out to get involved!
If you have any other questions about Bread + Roses, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to ask them! This FAQ section will be updated as new questions are asked, so please get in touch with anything you want to know.
